No Man’s Land Magazine
WHAT TO SEND:
(READ THIS) People are tired of the male-only artistic gatekeeping thats been happening for centuries. And that’s not what I intend to perpetuate in making No Man’s Land a magazine of only male contributors. It’s intended to give voice to a certain type of man, and to give the world insight into what type of men can and do exist. I’m looking for a style of creating that’s characterized by taking accountability and revealing truth. Taking ownership over what happens to us, and not stopping there! Claiming ownership of what happens to all because of us. That’s what I want to read in No Man’s Land, and that’s what I think the world is hungry for. An intimate view into the evolving male experience, not with complaints or blame games, but with responsibility and action. This is not to shame ourselves either. I don’t want the self destructive behavior and shame spiraling that is so commonly directed toward men from/in the radicalized left. (And don’t mistake this for a right-wing magazine either, with its “facts don’t care about feelings” bravado. The true fact is, we as men feel hurt, lost, scared, and are ready for change - wherever ones stands on the political, social, racial map). There is damn good reason for men to be blamed for the state of the current world. It’s time for us to step into the fires that we started; and to put out the fires that we as individuals didn’t start, but were taught to tend. We as a society don’t need the feeling-bad-for-self, self flagellation that men often turn to. We need men who walk into fire and rise from the smoke; who become safe, responsible, protective, emotionally aware, chivalrous, courageous, honest, ambitious and present in the process. We need men who are walking the long road from their heads to their hearts, aligning the two, and want to collaborate in building a better world because of it.
Write/create from there, and you’ll likely see your work printed in No Man’s Land.
No Man’s Land Magazine publishes poetry, visual art, short-stories and reflections/essays on the modern masculine experience. We accept submissions year-round, always free, and always read with care.
SOME GROUND RULES:
We only accept work from male contributors.
We do not accept work generated predominantly by AI. Human creativity is at the heart of what we publish. If AI was used in any supportive way, please explain in your submission notes.
Simultaneous submissions are encouraged. Please let us know as soon as piece or all of your submission has been accepted for publication elsewhere! (send email to David.nomanslandpress@gmail.com)
We publish poetry, essays, personal reflections, journalism, short-stories, translations, and visual art. And whatever else one could possibly print in a magazine, so long as it aligns with the No Man’s Land vibe (read the overview above).
Please provide a brief third person bio in the contributor note section of your submission. If a submission is accepted, this will also be printed in the magazine.
Unfortunately at this time, No Man’s Land can’t afford to pay its contributors. However, each contributor will receive a free copy of the magazine where their work is printed. Also, this magazine is about community and reach, so I intend to respectfully and ambitiously champion any and all contributed work to the growing No Man’s Land community.
If you made a typo, don’t worry about it. If you messed up reallll bad, send me an email and you can fix up your submission. Please don’t flood my emails over misplaced commas (I probably won’t even notice).
Your work will always be read and held carefully and intentionally. I deeply appreciate any and all contributions. You can absolutely expect a response (give about 2-4 weeks, but may be a bit longer). I intend to send notes and feedback with each submission, as to keep this process personal, fun, friendly, open and expansive. This is more than a magazine; this is community and connection. I will treat your submitted work with that kind of reverence.
TERMS & RIGHTS:
By submitting work to No Man’s Land Press, you confirm that the work is your original creation and that you hold the rights to submit it.
Your work is and always will be yours. If accepted, you give No Man’s Land Press the right to publish the work in print and digital formats related to the publications and promotion - always with your name attached (unless you want to be anonymous - which you MUST tell me in submission)
You may withdraw your submission at any time prior to acceptance. After acceptance, withdrawals are permitted only if requested before the first day of the month preceding the scheduled publication date. Withdrawal requests made after that point may not be honored. Issues are published quarterly in January, April, July and October. This means that for the July issue, you must withdraw before June 1st, etc.
FINAL NOTE:
Thank you for submitting your work to No Man’s Land. The intention as stated above is to give a deep intimate insight into the modern male experience. Sharing intimate work is brave, and on behalf of the whole world in need of brave men willing to be vulnerable, I thank you!
